How often should I wash my hair with a shampoo bar?

The answer is simple, exactly the same number of times you would with a bottled product!

But how often should we be washing our hair in general?

Washing your hair may feel like second nature - step in the shower, grab the shampoo and hope for the best, right?

Well, many of us may not even realise that we’re washing our hair too much….

Our hair is actually a self-cleaning ‘eco-system’, and washing your hair too much could disrupt its natural complex.

If you over-wash you will strip your hair of its natural nutrients and oils resulting in dryness and dandruff. Then your hair will try to overcompensate producing more oil and you’re stuck in a cycle!

So, how many times a week should we actually be washing our hair?

Only wash your hair when it’s absolutely necessary. For most people, this will be two-to-three times per week, but some people can get away with less and others will need more.

If you are washing your hair everyday, somethings not quite right…

You can tell if your hair needs washing simply by sight and feel; if it still feels soft and bouncy, it’s likely it won’t need a wash. If it’s visibly oily then it probably needs it!

Causes of needing to wash your hair everyday:

  1. Using products containing synthetic ingredients (SLS)

  2. Diet i.e. high saturated fats increasing oil production

  3. Stress/anxiety leading to hands in hair transferring dirt and oil from fingers to scalp

How can we help?

Although we can’t help with diet or stress, what we can do is provide you with hair care that harnesses the power of botanicals and does not contain any harsh ingredients so you can leave your hair longer between washes
